Being Thankful

Recently, Raw Mojo was scheduled to play a show at Tornado's in Cedar Rapids. Due to a dire situation with Adam's father the band was forced to cancel the show. This news came a day before the show was scheduled leaving the Raw Mojo and the venue with little choice but to try and find a replacement. At this point I decided it would be best if I just stepped in and offer to fill in by playing a solo acoustic set and to my surprise Tornado's accepted my offer! I was nervous and excited to put together a set of original songs unrelated to Raw Mojo all within a period of 24 hours. I immediately hit my notebooks and started to go through songs I could pull off alone. Flash forward to 24 hours later I played 9 songs to open the show. To some this might not seem like much of an accomplishment but to someone like myself who can hide well within the confines of a band but have a ton of anxiety when I lay it out there it's quite the accomplishment. I am thankful I was able to do it and the experience has shown me I can do it again and get better at it. Obviously Raw Mojo is my first priority and love but this is a great outlet for any downtime the band might have.

Live and Unplugged at Tornado's
As for the best part of the story, that night I got a text from Adam. The doctors had located the problem that was putting his fathers life in immediate jeopardy and had a successful surgery. What a great way to end the evening. Thank you life, for healing the sick and letting me see the wonders you hold on this journey.
